Psychological Assessment Service:
The Psychological Assessment Service (PAS) provides
comprehensive evaluations of children and adolescents
with a wide range of clinical problems, including
learning disabilities, attention problems and
developmental delays. Consultations and screenings
are also available. Services are provided or supervised
by licensed PhD clinical psychologists who are faculty
in the Department of Pediatrics. The program is part
of an interdisciplinary clinical, training and research
facility, with on-site consultation available from other
specialty services, including speech and language therapists,
audiologists and medical specialists. Psychological
Assessment includes parent and child interviews and formal
testing as well as input from teachers and therapists.
We provide written reports to parents, schools and other
professionals and make recommendations for treatment.
Results and recommendations are communicated to parents
in an interpretive session. While we do accept insurance,
verification is required as pre-authorization is sometimes
necessary.

Developmental Services Program:
The Developmental Services Program, in conjunction with
the University of Miami Pediatric Special Immunology
Program, provides comprehensive neurodevelopmental
assessments for infants, children and youth infected
with HIV. Children who are evaluated receive a written
report outlining their cognitive strengths and challenges,
specific recommendations to address areas of need, as well
as targeted advocacy services to assist children and their
families who wish to obtain specialized educational services
through the school system. Service providers work closely
with families both during and after assessment to ensure
that their children's developmental needs are fully met,
while maintaining confidentiality and protecting privacy
rights. Additional program services include:
- general education about developmental milestones
- learning issues and developmental disabilities
- parent-training for children with special needs
- adherence interventions for clients with complex medication regimens
